COVID-19 Update 27-03-2020

Dear Mount Royal Friends:

Friday, I read the sad, but not unexpected news, that United Churches will remain closed until at least the end of April. What a wonderful day it will be when I can ask for the messaging on Facebook and the website to say "We're back!"

The church building (but not church as Rev. Stuart reminds me) is closed and no groups are gathering. We have had people going in to the church to check on it, Tracy to prepare our Easter letter which you should see this week and to record music; all at different times, in small numbers and respecting social distancing. I can assure each one is being very cautious. I am sorry that I didn't have a picture of Bill and Jill when they arrived to record music on Wednesday evening. Both came armed with disinfectant spray and cloths etc.

Thanks to Rev. Stuart for his midweek meditation available on the website and for recording his Sunday messages from home. His sermon this week, called "Unconditional Love" is a good one for all of us. Many people have inquired so I want to assure everyone that he is well and the church is clean.

Thank you very much to Brenda and Jill for their musical gifts this week and to Bill for recording, editing and loading the service on the website. I hope it helps you to feel connected to your church family. There are many services available on the internet for viewing but I am thankful that Rev. Stuart and others are so willing to give of their time and talent to help us feel a "Mount Royal family" connection.

If you are in isolation or choosing to limit your public exposure, please do not hesitate to reach out. We know that the church is an important connection in many people's lives so you are encouraged to keep in contact with members of your church family by calling or emailing.

Please feel free to leave non - urgent messages on the church office voicemail (506-855-5771) or send an email to office@mountroyaluc.ca  These will be checked periodically during the closure. As well the outside mail box is emptied Monday to Friday.

We have had a couple of people who have offered to pick up groceries or medication for members of our church family who are unable to leave home. Please contact Susan Fowler at 506-855-7008 if you require assistance.

I am asking each of you to consider whether you can continue to make your usual weekly givings or any amount while we are apart. Even though the church building is not open expenses continue and we are trying very hard to not fall too far behind on our operating expenses. Please check the church website in the coming days for all the ways you can continue to give. Any amount is appreciated. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Stay well everyone. I miss you all your friendship and fellowship.

Susan Fowler
