Welcome to our third edition of the Mount Royal United Church Video E-Newsletter. You will find the video at the bottom of this message.

If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Greetings. I hope this message finds you well.

What strange times we are living in! Not many people are alive to remember a time of so many limitations on our personal freedom, all to keep us safe at home. We are closing in on the end of another week of Covid-19 and all the restrictions that has brought us. I am sure we are all anxiously awaiting Premier Higgs update on Friday, May 22nd and anticipating more opportunities for social interaction.

One of the key items to come, for us as a Community of Faith, is when we will again be able to hold services in the sanctuary. An ad hoc planning committee to consider reopening was struck last Tuesday at our virtual Council meeting. Hopefully we can begin those discussions next week. Lots of thought has already gone into different concerns we will need to address to ensure the safety of all. The challenge will be to find a way to provide a meaningful service in a safe environment at a reasonable cost.

It would be helpful if you would let us know your comfort level around returning to church before a vaccine is widely available and whether you will continue to watch on-line services if the reopening of the church sanctuary is delayed by months.
Do you have particular concerns that you would like us to address? Please respond by Wed May 27th to the survey which will follow. Your feedback will be vital to our reopening discussions.  Click Here for the Survey

In the meantime, we need to all continue to stay positive and consider how this period of isolation and limited social interaction has impacted us in a positive way. I heard at last week's coffee chat that people are walking more and driving less; that they are reading; doing crafts and taking time to call one another and to converse using electronic platforms because it is easier to reach friends and family since people are actually home.

Spiritual Teacher Eckhart Tolle has said " Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness."

Enjoy this week's edition of Virtual Voices and please remember to pass along any announcements of special activities to us at newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca

Be well and stay safe.
