The Video E-Newsletter
of Mount Royal United Church
for Friday June 26th 2020

Welcome to our eight edition of the Mount Royal United Church Video E-Newsletter. You will find the video at the bottom of this message.

If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

A quick reminder that our Sunday services are now live streamed from the sanctuary at 9:30 and these can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 9:15 with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.
Best Regards,
Newsletter Committee

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Hi Everyone.

I hope you are well. Can you believe it is nearly the end of June? Each time another month passes I wonder where the time has gone.

I hope that all of the sunny weather is helping you to stay positive and hopeful because I know it was a long spring for many of you. Stay hydrated in these humid days ahead.

Here are this week's announcements, brought to you, virtually, by our Newsletter Committee. We would love to pass along your requests so please call me at 506-855-7008 or email newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca if there is anything you would like us to share.

If I could highlight one thing this week it would be to ask you to give what you are able to the Capital Campaign for the Systems Committee. The equipment we have identified is earmarked for items which will ensure better sound and visuals and are being purchased in response to comments people have made about the online services.

I know many of you question whether there is a need to spend the money believing we will be back worshiping together in the sanctuary before long. You will remember that, before we were forced to close in March, Sunday services were recorded and posted on the website afterwards for people to watch. We had been testing the transition to a live streamed service just before we closed. Live streaming is not happening because of Covid-19 but rather in spite of it.

The hope is with a live streamed service we will be able to reach people who are unable or who chose not to attend a worship service in the sanctuary but want to feel a part of the Mount Royal family. Offering an online service will help us stay connected but also allow us to reach out to others in our community and beyond.

I encourage you to think of ways to maintain a connection and offer new and different ways for us to be "church". That new vision of church may include coffee chats, movie nights, book or bible studies, all done virtually as required, until we can meet together without masks and distancing.

What does "church" mean to you? Can you think of things you would like Mount Royal to be able to offer?

Please invite your family and friends to join us on the church website www.mountroyaluc.ca and signup for our email newsletters by selecting from the left hand menu "Contact" and "Email Signup new".

Stay safe.
Happy Canada Day everyone.
We are blessed to live in an amazing country.
