Virtual Voices - 12th edition

Virtual Voices

The Video E-Newsletter
of Mount Royal United Church
for Friday July 24th 2020

Welcome to our eleventh edition of the Mount Royal United Church Video E-Newsletter. You will find the video at the bottom of this message.

If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

A quick reminder that our Sunday services are now live streamed from the sanctuary at 9:30 and these can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 9:15 with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.
Best Regards,
Newsletter Committee

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Hello Mount Royal Friends.

I hope this finds you well. During the month of August, the staff of Mount Royal will enjoy a well-deserved vacation. Our online offerings, including Rev. Stuart's mid-week meditations, Virtual Voices, our e-newsletter and our live stream Sunday worship services are all going to pause for that period of time. Please maintain connections with members of your church family.

While we will not be live streaming Sunday worship we do have services from the Region and a Camping Sunday program prepared by Rev Catherine Stuart which you can watch from our website. And, of course, you can always search the video archives on the church website in order to watch past services, listen to the messages and beautiful music or re-watch the talent show for some fun and entertainment.

As you listen to the announcements recorded this week, you'll hear a request for additional sound and technology volunteers as well as the need for a few folks for Sunday mornings to ensure we are following all the cleaning, sanitation and other government mandated Covid 19 protocols once we are back meeting and worshiping in the church building. If you feel you can assist, please call the church office at 855-5771 or email me councilchair@mountroyaluc.ca

I want to say a huge thank you to all those people who have continued their monthly contributions by Pre-Authorized Remittance or sent cheques or e-transfers to the church while we have been unable to worship in the sanctuary. Along with the Federal Government wage subsidy we have received, you have helped us to maintain our church's financial position and keep us in relatively good shape starting into the fall.

Bill Millett joins us again this week from the other side of the camera to talk about what the money being raised for the Systems Committee Capital Campaign will be used for and why up to date technology is more important than ever. We have raised over $5000 towards our $9000 goal. If you are able to contribute, please ensure you mark your donation as designated for the Systems Committee.

Some of you took the time to say how much you appreciated Bill's "Tech talk" and so we'll be sure to have him back again in the fall. And I know people were pleased to hear Erik Gingles interview Rev Scott about Christian Development offerings starting in the fall.

Remember if you have questions or comments on anything concerning Mount Royal, please do not hesitate to contact me. Watch for another survey to go out in August asking about your comfort level in returning to worship in the sanctuary and any particular concerns.

Until we return to online connections and live streamed services in September, please take very good care and be sure to send me your comments and questions.

Be well,

Susan Fowler

All proper hand and surface sanitation protocols were observed prior to and after the making of this video.  :-)

If you have scrolled all the way down here to the bottom, we thought you would enjoy something uplifting.

If you want to be reminded of the love of the Lord,

just watch the sunrise.
