Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Hello Mount Royal Friends.

Welcome to Virtual Voices for September 18th. We have lots of news for you in this week's edition.

Tune in as we make a pitch for volunteers in a number of areas, share a great idea for expressing gratitude during the month of October and let you know about some fundraisers we are planning. One is the possibility of an online auction, something we have not tried before.

You will hear about plans to reopen the sanctuary for limited, in person attendance in October. The hope is we will be ready for Thanksgiving Sunday. To help us prepare, we plan on a couple of trial runs so don't be surprised if you see a small number of bodies in church during the two services that precede the 11th.

Details on what you will need to do to attend worship in person will be sent to you with your Thanksgiving letter and we will do our best to communicate what you should expect when you arrive for a service. An Operations Plan, drafted by the Ad Hoc Committee of Council on Re-Entry was presented to and approved by Council on Tuesday, September 16th. Thanks to Rev. Stuart, the members of the Ad Hoc Committee and to members of Council for their long hours and careful considerations of the safety protocols required for reopening during the Covid pandemic.

And of course, for those people not quite ready to return to in person worship, our services will still be live streamed for you to watch at the time of the service or anytime later once the recording has been posted to the website.

Effective September 27th services will begin at 10:30am with the musical prelude by France beginning at 10:15.

That's it from me for this week. I hope you are well and will tune in on Sunday morning for the Worship Service and hear Rev. Stuart's message entitled "Rewriting the Rule Book".

Please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns.
