The Video E-Newsletter
of Mount Royal United Church
for Friday Jan 22nd 2021

Welcome to our thirty third edition of the Mount Royal United Church Video E-Newsletter. You will find the video at the bottom of this message.

If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary  beginning at 10:30 am and can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 pm with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.
Best Regards,
Newsletter Committee

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the announcements for Mount Royal United Church. Although our normal weekly activities cannot take place while we are in red, we still have some special announcements to pass along.

Last call for the grocery gift cards... Please call Terry Foreman at 388-4887 if you wish to make a purchase. Let's not leave Terry hanging with the remaining cards.

In 2020 our Memorial Hymn Sing was cancelled. This year we plan to offer it online for everyone to enjoy. This meaningful service is also a great fundraiser for the church. Please check the church website for the explanation of how it works, the list of hymns and how you can dedicate them in memory of a loved one. If you have any questions, please contact the church office. We hope to have your dedications and donations in to the office by February 12th so please give this your immediate attention if you are able to participate. Remember, the service will be on the website for you to enjoy at your convenience or multiple times.

Are you passionate about seeing Mount Royal continuing to exist for many years to come? Would you like to join others across the country in discussing what makes for a vibrant, innovative congregation? If you would like to join in the United-In-Learning events on Thriving Churches or you would like to participate in some or all of the EDGE Cohorts discussions on Sustainability please give me a call. I will be happy to give you additional details on how to join the discussions. In the months to come you will hear more about what MRUC participants learned.

Finally - have you ever wondered why we say the declaration at the beginning of every service, or why it is important to say it in 2021 when the land was taken from Indigenous people hundreds of years ago? Well now there is a place to find the answers to those questions. Please check the website for a very interesting interview Rev. Stuart had with Laura Hunter, the tri-Region Minister responsible for Justice and Mission. If you still have questions after listening to the interview, I am sure Rev. Stuart would be happy to address them.

I wish you all a very safe week. Let's all stay home as much as possible and hopefully we can turn things around and return to the orange and then yellow recovery phases as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
