A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary  beginning at 10:30 am and can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 pm with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Hi Everyone,

February is Black History Month. How much do you know about Black History?

I must admit I don't know very much and have lots to learn. In 2019, I watched the movie "Harriet" with my friend, Lee. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend you watch it. It is loosely based on the American heroine, Harriet Tubman who escaped slavery and then returned to Maryland 13 times to help friends and family to freedom. Her emotional and inspiring story will leave you wondering how people could treat other human beings so poorly. I found it particularly poignant after visiting a former slave trade market in Zanzibar in 2013. While we would like to believe slavery has been abolished, google whether slavery still exists in the world. The numbers will startle you.

Of course, we have some very famous Black Canadians from right here in Atlantic Canada; Viola Desmond, Carrie Best, Willie O'Ree, Measha Brueggergosman to name but a few. Do you know their stories? There is an interesting little history clip at the end of Virtual Voices this week that I invite you to check out.

As you listen to this week's announcements, you will hear about a couple of virtual events that the Christian Development Committee is presenting later this month; a fellowship gathering to share a treat and see the smiles of some folks from the Mount Royal Church family and a Lenten bible study. Both of these events will be using Teams so if you haven't used that yet, reach out to the Christian Development Chairs, Karen or Courtney or to me and we will try to get you comfortable with it before the events arrive. To register or for Teams help contact cdc@mountroyaluc.ca

Please worship with us this week. Rev. Carol Mullin leads the service with a message entitled "Waiting on God".

Have a great week. Be safe.
