for Friday Mar 5th 2021

Welcome to our thirty ninth edition of the Mount Royal United Church Video E-Newsletter. You will find the video at the bottom of this message.

If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary  beginning at 10:30 AM and can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 AM with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.
Best Regards,
Newsletter Committee

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Did you read Norbert Cunningham's "How I See It" column in Thursday, March 4th's Transcript about changes in water temperature due to global warming? It talks about action required by the government to mitigate the effects of flooding due to rising water levels.

Now I don't want to get into a political discussion about government priorities but I thought you might like to know what the United Church of Canada has to say about climate change and what we might consider as a call to action as a Community of Faith or as individuals. If this is of interest to you, be sure to check out the article on the church website on the Interfaith Day for Climate Action. There are some great resources for us to read and watch so we can all be better informed on how we might act to make changes as a Community. And you can join like-minded members of Mount Royal on March 11 at 7 PM at the church if we are in the yellow recovery phase and/or by Microsoft Teams. If you would like to participate, please email the Christian Development Committee at cdc@mountroyaluc.ca by March 9th. You will be sent further details on the gathering and discussion.

Here is a reminder as well to check out the news on the church website about where to watch the World Day of Prayer service for 2021.

As you may recall, when we began our search for a new minister, the first step was to prepare a Community of Faith profile, including our Living faith statement. We completed that in June 2019. However, regardless of whether a church is actively seeking a new or a change to a pastoral relationship, the United Church of Canada, requests that we update our profile regularly. Two members of Council, Marlene and Valerie, recently took on that project. You can find our updated Profile on the church website menu on the left-hand side, under "About Us ".

Please watch the announcements this week for details of meetings and virtual education sessions you can participate in on a variety of subjects. What a great time to learn new and different strategies for keeping our Community of Faith vibrant.

Thank you for your ongoing financial support and your ideas and suggestions. They are much appreciated.

Please join us for worship this week. As always, please contact me if you have any questions or comments.
