Best Regards, Newsletter Committee Important Update regarding COVID protocols Now in effect for all activities at Mount Royal United Church - Preregistration for in person worship in not required - We are recording names and phone numbers for contact tracing purposes - Mask wearing, hand sanitizing and social distancing are still required. ** Effective September 26, 2021, proof of double vaccination must be provided to attend worship. - MRUC Council has decided 100% of attendees for worship must be vaccinated. - No medical exemptions will be accepted at this time. - You may also be requested to provide a government issued identification. - If you are either unvaccinated or cannot wear a mask, please stay home until it is safer for you to attend church. Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler Hello. I hope you had a wonderful week. The leaves are really starting to turn. By Thanksgiving, we will be totally embracing the fall colours we are so blessed to enjoy in this part of the country. My daughter, Amy, in Alberta often shares pictures of the larch trees that turn a vibrant yellow this time of year. I politely say to her "Yes Dear, they are lovely." Secretly I think about how much she is missing out there. I hope you will join us for worship this week. October 3rd is World Communion Sunday. Be sure to have your elements ready at home and, of course, we will provide individual communion pods to anyone who attends in person worship at the church. The sermon this week is entitled "That All May Be One”. Valerie Tremble will be reading the scripture: Matthew 14:13-21 should you want to read it before the service and have time to reflect on it a bit. The Prelude and Postlude will be done by Lee Wilson and the Anthem will be "River Flows in You" by Hannah Townsend. Thank you, Valerie, and to Lee and Hannah for their gifts of music this week. As you know, we have talked lots about educating ourselves and opening our hearts and minds to have a greater understanding of the 94 Calls to Action issued by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. September 30th this year, Orange Shirt Day, is a chance for us to demonstrate that "Every Child Matters". It also marks the first National Truth and Reconciliation Day. Please see our church website and Facebook pages for ideas on how to participate. One suggestion that just came to our attention is an outdoor community vigil to be held right here in Moncton. It is promoted by Visions United and the Community Hub on Joyce. You can join in at 5 PM Thursday, September 30th at 140 Joyce Avenue in the parking lot. You are invited to bring your own lawn chair. Please, I cannot emphasize too strongly that if you choose to participate in this outdoor vigil, that you exercise every Covid precaution to keep yourself and other members of Greater Moncton safe.
