Best Regards, Newsletter Committee Important Update regarding COVID protocols YES THERE IS IN PERSON ATTENDANCE FOR THE SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE THIS WEEK Now in effect for all activities at Mount Royal United Church - Preregistration for in person worship in not required - We are recording names and phone numbers for contact tracing purposes - Mask wearing, hand sanitizing and social distancing are still required. ** Effective September 26, 2021, proof of double vaccination must be provided to attend worship. - MRUC Council has decided 100% of attendees for worship must be vaccinated. - No medical exemptions will be accepted at this time. - You may also be requested to provide a government issued identification. - If you are either unvaccinated or cannot wear a mask, please stay home until it is safer for you to attend church. Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler Did you notice that change in the weather? Feels like we went from shirt sleeves to jackets overnight. I spoke to a woman at an optical place on Monday who was wearing a winter coat. I suggested to her that she might freeze come winter. She was convinced it would snow that night. I think the temperature went to a low of plus 8, not quite snow weather but chilly, nevertheless. I bet, like me, you can remember a few Halloweens when children out trick or treating had to sport winter jackets because it was too cold to add enough layers under their costumes to stay warm. This is a special week at Mt Royal. We will celebrate the baptism of Nora Dignard, daughter of Michaela and Timothy and the niece of Joe and Jamie Avery. What an honour and pleasure that the family has chosen Mount Royal for this important part of Nora's faith journey. You no doubt heard that the mandatory order which introduced circuit breaker provisions on October 8th has been extended in Zone 1 Moncton for at least one more week. COVID case numbers have declined somewhat but are not yet at the level GNB and Public Health would like to see to lift restrictions. I encourage you to continue to follow the GNB requirements which you can find at https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/corporate/promo/covid-19/health_measures.html For the past three weeks we have not been open for in-person worship at Mount Royal. Given the very small number of people who attend in person worship at MRUC, plus our requirements for mask wearing, double vaccination and 2 metre distancing from anyone in another household, we think attending worship in person can be done safely. While we are still looking for people attending worship to be double vaccinated, this week there will be children in attendance for the baptism who are unvaccinated because of their age. As a result, we will be following GNB requirements for faith venues that apply when not everyone is fully vaccinated. Volunteers will look after the additional requirements.
