Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Are you like me, the type of person who does all the Christmas preparations at last the minute? Or are you one of those folks that start to decorate even before Advent arrives? No matter how many times I tell myself that I would enjoy the season more if I would just start earlier, I am always still doing things at the very last minute.

I went into a store on Thursday, motivated because the parking lot was pretty much empty. Pre COVID, I always enjoyed looking at their Christmas displays and ornaments. I wandered around thinking I would get a bit inspired but left feeling like it was about a month too early for me. One of the sales associates asked if I liked the Christmas display room. When I said "Yes, it’s nice, but it doesn't seem like there is as much stuff in there as I expected" she replied "It’s because we are selling everything so quickly, we can't keep the trees decorated and the shelves stocked." Oh my - November 4th.

Sometimes, whether you want to do things early or not, you don't have a choice. That is the case for our upcoming carol sing. COVID restrictions mean we can't have Cathy Elderkin asking for your carol requests on Sunday mornings before worship during Advent. But there is no reason we should go without a service of our favourite carols. We are asking you to send them in between now and November 23rd. Yes, it’s early but we need them now so they can be recorded and put into a carol sing format to be released December 12th. You can join in and sing along to the lyrics on the 12th or listen to the recording at any time.

We need your input to make this a fun Christmas activity for all. Please email your carol favourites as soon as possible to France music@mountroyaluc.ca or call the office 855-5771.

The Government of New Brunswick announced 7 more days of circuit breaker restrictions for Zone 1. Be sure to check out the gnb.ca website for restrictions and for information on participating in Remembrance Day ceremonies on November 11th.

And don't forget to turn your clock back on Sunday AM and send me your comments and suggestions.
