Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Is it too early to say Season's Greetings? Advent 1 is November 28th. The waiting and preparing season will begin in earnest.

Preparations feel so different without the children to be excited and asking every day about when we'll get the tree, set it up and decorate it; when will we bake cookies and shop for or make presents? How many more days of school, how many sleeps till Christmas Eve? May I please open something other than new Christmas pyjamas before bed on the 24th...? Like my mom, I always left a lot to the last minute. Good thing my children learned a little balance from the Fowler side of the family.

Even without the girls there is much to keep me busy while at the same time trying to reflect on the waiting and anticipation. There are still preparations to make and the constant pull of can I squeeze in one more thing versus sit back and reflect on what December 25th really means.

If you are needing a little shot of Christmas Spirit, plan to attend the carol sing on December 12th at 7PM. Don't forget the deadline for carol requests is November 28th. Its free, it'll bring back happy memories of the days before COVID and it is sure to give you a boost and make you smile. Cathy Elderkin will lead the singing. Thank you Cathy!

We have lots of special services planned for Advent. Please join us in person if you are comfortable and online if that works best with your schedule. See your Christmas letter or watch your email for details on events and for any last-minute changes due to weather.

Terry Foreman, along with Tracy Parrott in the office, have Sobeys grocery gift cards for sale in $50 and $100 denominations. Please email Terry at grocerycards@mountroyaluc.ca or call him at 506-388-4887 or Tracy at office@mountroyaluc.ca or 506-855-5771. Terry will be in church on Sunday, November 28th and have cards for sale downstairs. Cash or cheque only please on Sunday. Otherwise, you can see him later or email your grocery card order to Tracy and e-transfer your payment direct to the church. Be sure to specify it is for grocery gift cards.

Thank you for your support.

Please join us for worship this week for our Hanging of the Greens service.

If you have comments or questions, please contact me.
