Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

After 2 years, barring any unforeseen surprises, we will be holding our 2021 Annual Meeting on Sunday, April 24th. It will feel so great to hold an Annual Meeting as we were unable to do so last year. Mount Royal people are usually very interested in following the affairs of the church. I hope this year is no different.

There are no big surprises; nothing too startling for the Community of Faith. We have done our best to keep you current since the start of COVID. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that revenue is down. With very few people attending in person worship, loose offerings are almost non-existent. And fundraising has been limited primarily to the sale of grocery gift cards and proceeds from Tai Chi group gatherings.

David Close, our retired Treasurer will be presenting the financials and budget items. The proposed budget was approved by Council earlier this year, but the financials are what usually generates the most questions. Do join us for an update and to hear about upcoming anticipated expenses. Of course, your comments on any matters are welcome and we will do our best to address them.

While I know some people do not enjoy participating virtually, for anyone unable to join in person, watching on a device is an excellent way to stay connected.

If you do not feel comfortable joining us in the sanctuary, please be sure to watch the annual meeting via the livestream on the church website or Facebook page. The meeting will begin shortly after the worship service concludes. We will take a short break and start around 11AM. You don't need to restart the livestream; it will just continue after the break following the worship service. As always, the livestream on Sunday morning will begin with music at 10:15 with the worship service beginning at 10:30.

If you are unable to join live, you can watch the worship service and the recording of the annual meeting posted on the website after 1:30 PM.

Your continued interest in Mount Royal United Church, despite a long 25 months of COVID, is appreciated and requested.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
