If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary  beginning at 10:30 AM and can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 AM with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.
Best Regards,

Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler

Welcome to Virtual Voices for the week beginning July 8th. This week your announcements are going out in print form only. I hope this finds you well.

There is not too much in news to announce. Please send your celebrations to Tracy in the office for us to share.

I only know of 2 birthdays: John Brown on July 8th and Marlene MacLeod on July 10th. Sorry if I missed others. Tracy, the source of most celebratory messages, was working away from the office this week. Happy birthday to John and Marlene and anyone else celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion this week.

Craft group will meet on Tuesday at 10:00 AM on the church lawn next to the Bessborough Avenue parking lot if the weather cooperates; otherwise, they will meet inside, in the kitchen. Please bring a lawn chair if you are outdoors for your gathering. Everyone is welcome. No crafting ability is required.

Stephen's Tai Chi group meets Sat mornings at 10 AM in the social hall. If you are a regular participant, Stephen will let you know if the class is cancelled.

Rev. Stuart's weekly Wednesday worship continues. Most weeks you can listen at 9:00 AM or at any time after on the website. This past Wednesday Rev. Stuart spoke about constant love. Have a listen to his message and gifts of music by some in our Community of Faith.

Christian Development is offering a movie night this summer, "Julie and Julia". It won't be a movie study, just an evening of entertainment in the coolness of the social hall. Join Rev. Stuart and friends on July 29th at 7PM for a movie and popcorn. Please email cdc@mountroyaluc.ca to confirm your planned attendance.

And if you wish to get a jump on a fall book study, the book "Forgiving Yourself" by Robert H. and Jeannette C. Lauer would make a great summer read. If you have any trouble purchasing it, please contact Rev. Stuart at revstuart@mountroyaluc.ca.

We are still planning on a late summer open house at the church, welcoming everyone in the neighbourhood to drop by and see what we are all about. It is scheduled for September 18th with a rain date of September 25th. Mt Royal Committee Chairs and group leaders, think about what you plan to show any visitors about what we have to offer. I will be contacting you soon. There will be a hot dog BBQ for any who wishes to grab a bite and a drink. Watch for details.

Rev. Catherine Stuart, the Regional Minister responsible for Youth and Young Adults, provided some information this past week about an opportunity for a youth or Indigenous climate action activist between the ages of 18-30. If you would be interested in joining the COP27 delegation in Egypt for two weeks in November, please see the KAIROS Canada website for details or contact the church office for additional information. The deadline to apply is July 31st.

This Sunday, Rev. Scott Stuart's message is entitled "One Day". You'll find more details in this week's online welcome which goes out on Sunday morning. Remember, if you are joining us in person, you may remove your mask while seated or, if you are more comfortable, please leave it on. Your choice. We have lots of special music this week. Lee Wilson will be playing the Prelude and Postlude on the flute; the anthem, "The Quiet Lagoon", will be offered by Grant H. Blakney and Ethan Stuart sings a very fitting piece "One Day" as he plays ukulele. I always love the flute and thoroughly enjoy seeing the young people playing music. I am sure you will as well.

Lee Wilson is also this week's scripture reader. She will be reading from Luke 10:25-37. Thank you, Lee, for several contributions to worship this week.

The Atlantic Nationals Auto Extravaganza is back in Moncton and continues this weekend with lots of vehicles for viewing in Centennial Park. Drop by and for a very modest amount you can park in one of the business lots close to the action and support De Molay, an organization committed to leadership development in young men. People of all ages who love cars never seem to grow tired of seeing the variety of vehicles in the park. Check this website for weekend activity details. www.atlanticnationals.com/show-details

The weekly announcements from Fundy St Lawrence Dawning Waters, Region 14, invite you to order a book entitled "Building God's Beloved Community". It offers the United Church's take on some big theological questions and discusses worship, traditions, and history of the church. It's a great resource if you are an adult thinking about baptism or confirmation or if you just want to know and understand more about the United Church. Pre-orders are being taken, please contact Leona at llaundry@united-church.ca to place your order. The price is 31.95 tax included.

Don't forget the "I Wonder" box at the back of the sanctuary. Send in or drop off your burning questions; they'll be placed into the box, anonymously or with your name and phone number if you wish to engage with Rev. Stuart on a deeper level. All your questions are welcome.

Thanks for your ongoing support. Summer is always a period when we fall behind in givings and Council is hopeful that does not happen this summer. We recognize the cost of everything has gone up, so all your efforts are appreciated. We do plan to begin the roof replacement for over the offices and some other energy efficiency upgrades in August. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of Mount Royal United.

Finally, I always love hearing from you with questions or concerns or just a note of thanks or encouragement. I try to pass those along to their intended recipients. Thanks, and stay well.

If you are contacting me, email is best in the summer.
