Best Regards, Newsletter Committee Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler Hi. Hope you enjoyed a lovely Christmas. It all goes so fast. Here we are, ready to ring in the New Year. We’ll start 2023 with worship at 10:30 and live music beginning at 10:15. For the anthem, France will play the organ and Cathy will sing “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”, a carol we don’t hear nearly often enough. Don’t you love these words? “I heard the bells on Christmas day Their old familiar carols play And mild and sweet their songs repeat Of peace on Earth, good will to men…” Cathy will also read the scripture on New Years Day. She’ll be reading from Jeremiah 31: 7-14 and John 1: 1-18. And Rev. Stuart’s message will be entitled “Home for All”. Things will slowly resume this week. The office will be closed on January 2nd but reopen at 9 AM on the 3rd. Craft Group will meet Tues at 10. And the Writer’s Circle will hold it’s monthly meeting in the boardroom Wed at noon. Oops. We missed a few celebrations the end of the year: Birthday wishes to Joyce MacLeod, Mike Matheson, Britany Foreman, and Sara Baxter. We did catch Rev Scott’s birthday on the 29th. All the best to these folks and to anyone else celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. Here’s another plug inviting you to take part in “Living in Transformative Change”, a presentation of the United Church of Canada. The timing is perfect since the Visioning Committee presented some recommendations to Council in November. It will be sharing those with you in the near future. Every congregation is experiencing significant change. This presentation sounds like a great way to hear about the challenges other congregations are facing and tap into suggestions on how to prepare for and transform into the future. I really hope this is something we can grab onto as a Community of Faith. There should be lots of interesting ideas and then, of course, we can talk about what we think might work and feel right for Mount Royal. Members of Council are inviting you to join them in watching this presentation via Zoom, Sunday Jan 15, 2023 from 3-5 PM. Do you have questions for the presenters?
