Welcome to our one-hundredth and thirty-eighth edition of the Mount Royal United Church Video E-Newsletter. You will find the video at the bottom of this message.

If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca we will do our very best to put it on for you.

A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary  beginning at 10:30 AM and can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 AM with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.
Best Regards,
Newsletter Committee

Message from - a member of our Community of Faith, Susan Fowler

As this message goes out, we will be acknowledging the darkness and despair of Good Friday, followed by the anticipation of Easter and all the hope and joy it brings.

What are your visions of spring? For me its melting snow, green grass and the expectation of buds and flowers soon to come, weeds to pull and soil to turn over. While I don’t have any animals, I know spring often means new life in the barnyards and everywhere in nature. Danny Reicker reminded me last Sunday to enjoy the next few weeks before the mosquitoes are back with a vengeance.

I always have big plans to clean the house from top to bottom and purge, purge, purge. That’s what I love about our Spring Rummage Sale coming up this year on April 21-22. It gives me a target so that by the preceding week, I will have made my way through most of the drawers and cupboards and sometimes even the garage. Recently I helped clean out some things from a house after the death of a family member and, along with some amazing help from neighbours and friends, I helped a friend move into an apartment. Boy, could I manage with so much less clothing, furniture, decorations and tools, toys and even office supplies! I am finally recognizing that I don’t have to keep something just because “it’s still good.” If I can help the church make a little money, give some joy to the many shoppers who will attend the sale and know that whatever doesn’t sell is forwarded on to other worthwhile charities … well it is time for me to make another pass through the house.

Even if you aren’t inclined to sort your belongings or clean your windows, I bet you can’t help but think each spring about how we sense the chance to change and reinvent our selves. Why not use Easter as the springboard for that reflection?

Be sure to take note of all the great fundraising and fellowship activities to come in the next month or so. And have a blessed Easter.
