A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary  beginning at 10:30 AM and can also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 AM with music and the announcement slides before the service begins with Rev. Stuart.

The weekly bulletin will be available here.

This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.

We hope you have a very good day today.

Message from - a member of our Community of Faith, Susan Fowler

Happy Canada Day weekend! Aren’t we lucky to live in such an amazing place? I admit sometimes its easier to think that way than others. For example, when the price of gas goes up ridiculously high on July 1st, I will be muttering under my breath for sure.

I live in a country that mostly values peace and tolerance. For now, I (a white, middle income, cisgender person), feel relatively safe each day. Can I still say that about all my fellow Canadian residents? Are we getting better or worse about caring for others in the past 156 years since Confederation?

I like the values that the United Church stands and strives for. You? Do you ever think about what the Mount Royal Community of Faith wants to say in our corner of the Earth? Rev Scott invited members of Council to think about it a bit during our last meeting. I, along with Val Tremble and Marlene MacLeod attended a meeting this past week with representatives from other United Churches in the Region. An interesting question was posed. If your church closed next week, would anyone notice? Worth considering whether anyone beyond our own Community of Faith would feel any impact. I would like to think the answer is yes. I’m just throwing some things out there for you to consider…

In Virtual Voices this week, I reminded folks that Rev Stuart invited us to bring along or send in donations of grocery bags and undergarments for Youth Quest. Basic needs. Underwear and a bag to carry some belongings around in... This is an organization that Mount Royal was very supportive of 15 years ago. When we had a Church in Action group at Mt Royal, we not only gave them donations of basic hygiene items but also cooked meals, played games and socialized with the participants.

This organization recognizes the time to make a difference in someone’s life is when they are still young. It tries to make sure young people meet their full potential and don’t fall through the cracks. As a branch of services of Youth Impact Jeunesse, read about Youth Quest. I like that it says the word Quest was chosen as an acronym reflecting the service delivery of its programs: Quality, Understanding, Empowerment, Self Sufficiency and Transition. Check out their website here

I encourage you (and me) to think about how we do and can be effective in our community.

Happy Canada Day!
